GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpacker Mug

GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpacker Mug

The GSI Outdoors Infinity Backpacker Mug is a single wall plastic option with an insulating wrap (cozee) like. It is ridiculously lighter than any of my other options at 3.42 ounces and the flexible woven handle is both effective and convenient as you can hook it to almost anything and it folds down for storability.

Keen Bryce Mid Boot Review

Keen Bryce Mid Boot Review

I found the Keen Bryce to be a good dayhiker in wet conditions or grippy alternative during a nice rock scramble with its soft fit and extra sole contact. However, the inability to shed mud was frustrating and given how quickly the leather spread out and the soft nature of the sole, I have questions as to the longevity of the shoe.

Vasque Bitterroot GTX gear review

Upon first inspection, the Bitterroot is a brutish mass of Vibram outsole and smooth leather upper that feels amazingly supple for being just out of the box. I expected a more rigid pliability that would need weeks of breaking in. However, I was headed to the trail for a weekend of 20+ Appalachian Trail miles in two weeks and I needed those boots to go along so the soft feel was a positive sign.

Nemo Meta 2 Person

Nemo Meta 2 Person

I embrace the idea of carrying gear that has multi-task capability. A jacket or vest is my sleep pillow, my Therm-a-rest is both dinner seat and then insulation layer while sleeping, and a small Zip-loc of paper towels is dish cleaner, toilet paper and emergency tinder. So when I found a tent that allowed me to use my trekking poles to pitch it, I had to give it a try.

Hammock Bivy or Tent as Your Back Country Abode?

Conjure up that image of you in your backyard on a summer day with a gentle breeze rustling the leaves and a cold iced tea (or spirited, cold beverage of choice) at your feet. There is gentle sway of that rope-formed, wood-ended hammock that nestles your torso and provides you both the comfort and the peace of mind that you, my friend, are living well.
