But it would be tragic to not realize that I did still accomplish much of what I wanted with this walk. I brought attention to my family’s plight, helping them emotionally and financially. I was able to inspire people, even in my failure. I was able to test my own limits and my willingness to follow through with an ambitious idea. Still, all of that is not enough for me to feel that this is over.

A typical day is an emotional experience. There’s yet to be a day without a low point, which is often in the morning. The low point is fueled by exhaustion and memories; memories of friends I’ve long since ceased talking to, moments spent alone or with others that I long to relive, gifts I never realized I had until they were gone.

My buddy, Devin, and I left Santa Monica on Sunday, April 15th, to walk across America in hopes of raising awareness for early-onset Alzheimer’s. Our journey will take us through eight US states as we begin to follow I-40 through most of the country.
