Bridal Veil Falls

Hidden within the folds mossy mountains, beneath the snowy pinnacle of Mount Index, a waterfall is waiting for your discovery. Although the journey begins along an old service road, within minutes you’ll find yourself on a scenic trail nestled deep within the maples and alder. If you hike this trail during the winter you can catch stunning views of Mount Index through the bare forest canopy before the trail turns to wind around the mountain’s base.

Roughly .5 miles into the trail you will find a turnoff sign for Bridal Veil Falls. Follow the side trail to the right (the main trail continues on to Lake Serene). The Bridal Veil Falls trail narrows and climbs higher into the mountain in a knot of switchbacks and wooden stairs. The rumble of pouring water summons you upward and onward as you make your way up the final flight of stairs. Put down your pack and don your raingear before exploring the falls; particularly in the winter this water feature is a misty wall of rushing water that will soak you quickly if you aren’t prepared.
