Have you ever tried to describe a place just by using pictures? Have you ever been successful capturing the feeling of a place in photos? Our photographer this week is Rod Hoekstra. He is traveling across South America and sent some photos back from Iguaçu Falls (also spelled Iguassu, Iguazu, depending on the language and location). He shot a sunset, a sunrise and a couple other times of day. We love how just these 5 images make us feel almost like we’re there with him!

I have been taking photos for 7 years, and am working hard on the transition between taking photos and making photos. I am attracted most frequently to the straight lines and interplay of shadow and light of architecture photograhy at dusk, but I make forays into many areas of photography, including landscape and "found art" photography. Most recently I have been exploring Kite Aerial Photography, where I loft a camera into the air using a kite to get low level aerial shots. I usually can be found with a camera no matter where I am, whether sitting at home or hiking through South America.
