This book is geared towards families just starting to camp together and looking for some advice on how to make it easier. Half the book (literally) is focused on the actual planning of the trip: foods to bring, games to play in the car on the way there, gear to obtain and pack, etc.
Our kids are out on adventures with us all year long. We invest in quality gear and clothing because we know it makes a difference. The day just goes better when we are not worried about who is hot, getting sunburnt, fighting the cold, remaining wet or is just plain ol’ grumpy.
Our children are playing on “safe” playgrounds leaving little room for imagination and challenging their bodies and minds through problem solving. Many of our youth are so self-involved that they forget what it means to have to work together with others and be mindful of the environment around them. Because they don’t have to. They live in an instant gratification society.
