The first thing to overcome for new night hikers may be their own psychology. At some point, you’re going to walk by some tree or bush and startle something sleeping in there, or you might spook some rabbits in a hole or a snake under a rock just off the trail and see them dart across your path suddenly. Relax and keep a level head, remember that you’re the one who just scared the bejesus out of some animal, they are not stalking you like a mugger in a dark city alley.
